She was crowned Miss Columbus in 1985 after kissing the crown, and beating the competition. This victory enabled for her to participate in the Miss Georgia contest in June 1985. On the same day, June 22, 1985, she won the tournament. Mohr then went on in September 1985 to be a part of Georgia at Miss America 1986, a pageant which was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Even though she took home the title however, she did not reach the top 10 of the national finalist list.
