In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track during the course of the space of six months. It's a blend of reggaeton with pop that not only brought new attention to reggaeton music, but also more interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish most of the time, and four more in 2016. In the midst of Despacito's popularity, however 19 mostly Spanish tracks made it into the Top 100 In 2020, there were 41 songs. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, popular artists began collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny have collaborated in the project MIA MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna and Maluma joined forces on Medellin, 2019 At the time of 2020, some reggaeton stars were complaining about its inclination towards mainstream, but a new generation namely Rauw Alejandro wanted to ensure that reggaeton was evolving. It often featured elements from different genres as well as electronic dance.
