Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarship for his family and service to the community. His first family is that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids raised within Eufala with Lucious Selmon. The Selmons were also among the three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. Three brothers all made All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. He was awarded two championships as well as 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. Following college, he relocated to Tampa and played nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. Then he started his professional career. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He coached his university team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed as associate director at the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
